Medical/Disability Accommodation Requests
The University of St. Thomas Policy for Students with Disabilities provides reasonable and appropriate housing options for physical accessibility in various halls. Accommodations include rooms, restrooms and shower areas designed to accommodate students with disabilities.
St. Thomas has a two-year on-campus living requirement and prioritizes first- and second-year students for on-campus housing. Students not required to live on campus, including those who previously received a housing-related accommodation while living on campus or have been recently approved for a housing-related accommodation, are not guaranteed on-campus housing. Housing accommodations do not automatically transfer from year-to-year and must be requested annually. Requests must be submitted to Disability Resources and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, considering both the nature of the disability and housing availability.
If you have an accessibility request that may require consideration when making your room assignment, medical documentation supporting your request must be provided to Disability Resources for consideration of your request. Questions about accommodations may be directed to Disability Resources at (651) 962-6315.
Beginning the 2026-2027 academic year, upper-division students, who have previously received a housing-related accommodation, or who have been recently approved for a housing-related accommodation, will receive priority during the Upper-Division Selection/Assignment Process, if beds are available to implement a process, or if there is a waitlist these students will receive priority. Incoming Transfer students who are not required to live on campus, will be assigned into housing based on their Housing Deposit date and bed availability. St. Thomas will review Transfer student housing related accommodations on a case-by-case basis and consider both the nature of the disability and housing availability.
Information about parking for people with disabilities can be found on the Parking & Transportation website. Students who have a medical need for a parking permit must participate in the parking lottery every year that they want a permit and submit a healthcare provider form to Disability Resources. Please contact Disability Resources to inquire about the medical parking permit request process and to request the required form.
