Campus Patrols

Day and night, our Public Safety officers make frequent patrols throughout campus, including parking lots and ramps. Periodic checks are made of all St. Thomas buildings, including residence halls, offices, and common spaces.

Video Camera Monitoring

In addition to walking patrols, the Public Safety team monitors 700+ video cameras on the St. Thomas campuses, 24 hours a day.

Research and Development

The Public Safety Department continually reviews best practices and current research in the development of the department and its employees. In addition, the department tracks federal and state legislation and other policies that relate to public safety.

Lost and Found

Any items found around campus that appear to be lost will be taken to the Lost and Found located within Public Safety on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.

Special Event Services

Each year, university departments and external groups sponsor a wide variety of events on campus. The safety and security of those who host and attend these events is of utmost importance. The Public Safety works with clients in assessing the safety needs related to their event. This includes parking, city permits, additional public safety staffing including public safety officers, police officers and fire/paramedics. The department will also assist in developing emergency plans for events.
